Visual display units have long since been associated with eye strain.
Extensive studies indicate frequent work in front of a computer monitor can draw out visual problems that previously went undetected.
Under EU regulation, employers are obliged to provide eye examinations for all employees that operate visual display equipment for a significant part of their day. Best practice recommends these employees are assessed prior to commencing this type of work.
We regularly provide VDU screening within our practices or at site where there is a significant number of employees to be tested. We also offer advice to maximise comfort and lighting to prevent eye strain occurring. The employer is supplied with a report, for each employee, indicating whether they met the required standard or not. The legislation recommends an eye exam every 2 years.
We would be happy to quote for groups or individuals at our practice or on site as required. Please contact us for further information on this subject if so required.
